Earl Cragun was an advocate of education. He spent his career as an educator in the Weber School District. He understood the value of great leaders in our school system. He established a fund through the foundation to honor elementary and secondary principal's who exhibit excellent leadership skills throughout the year. The recipients of the award each receive a $500 cash prize given out each spring during the annual Administrator's dinner.
Shelly’s staff has complete trust in her. She has a very calming way about her that makes others feel that everything is going to be okay. She is extremely fair and patient, and does everything she possibly can to help students and staff succeed--truly the consummate leader. And you can’t beat her sense of humor! She represents the model of the qualities we want in all our administrators—she IS the Weber Way!
Nick Harris is an energetic and innovative principal. Nick greets his students each day as they walk into the school. He is found making the rounds into teacher classrooms throughout the day. He has set high expectations for both students and staff challenging them to work harder and smarter. He is the epitome of an educational leader. The professional learning communities at Orion Junior High are top notch and they have bought into Nick’s message of working hard to improve student learning. Nick measures, tracks, and celebrates successes on his Friday Focus blog which he shares with his faculty. We are proud to recognize Nick with this prestigious award.
